Trauma-Informed Yoga - April 19th

  • Buffalo and Sparrow 441 Wadsworth Boulevard #122 Lakewood, CO, 80226 United States (map)

By following specific guidelines we are able to create a safe and inclusive space to explore the mind-body connection, tapping into our own unique inner landscape and rhythm.

Each class is designed to be slow and nourishing, with gentle movements.

For many trauma survivors, being conscious of the body and being present in the body is quite a challenge.

For people whose body has been harmed in many ways, having to focus on the body is very difficult and very scary and very triggering. “They don’t feel safe; they don’t feel stable.” Trauma-informed yoga attempts to make your body a safe space again by allowing you the space to relearn to trust your body and by providing you the opportunity to make choices for your body. The invitation is to feel what feels right to you instead of forcing yourself to fit the expectations of your environment.

It’s a way of teaching that avoids common triggering cues, poses, language, props, and more.

Its purpose is to allow you to feel as safe and comfortable during your practice so you heal your mind and body connection through movement.

This class is being offered through The Phoenix, a sober community. Each event at The Phoenix is free to anyone with at least 48 hours of sobriety. For more information, please reach out.
